Adolescent Counselling

Many parents are worried and frightened by their teenage children. Teenagers start acting out around the age of 13/14 when they're going through a lot of developmental changes. At this age, pushing boundaries is not as serious as other concerns.

In the event that your child's school counsellor, child's teacher, or someone else has pointed out significant changes in their behavior or personality, it might be time to seek professional help from an adolescent counselor or family therapist.

You should seek help if your teenager shows symptoms of eating disorders, depression, anxiety, self-harm or suicidal ideation. In addition to school refusal, underage drinking and/or drug use, seek help for your adolescent. When these behaviors go unchecked, they may result in serious antisocial behavior, criminal activity, running away from home, incarceration, suicide, or even death.

To get at-risk teens involved back in their communities and families in a healthy way, it often takes teamwork by skilled professionals. The process requires parents and other family members to be involved and available for sessions when needed.
